Aloha,

I am looking at relocating my family and myself to Georgia. I have been applying for government jobs through USA Jobs and so far nothing. Currently I have a Masters in Business Administration and 20+ years of experience in business administration. I have not seen any jobs for me in my field of administration yet in the surrounding communities of Georgia. Any help or idea of us moving there. I am hoping to land a job first before we move.

It would be myself, my husband, and son who will be 18 this year and graduating next year. Any help or information would be helpful.

Thank you,
Helen

What part of the state are you looking to move to?

Fair amount of federal government jobs in Atlanta (the usual suspects, plus CDC is based there). Also a good amount of military bases in other parts of Georgia, including Warner Robins near Macon, if you can find the right civilian job. Tough thing about federal jobs, though, is the sequester has put a lot of hiring on freeze. It's hard enough landing a govt job in good times. But I imagine it is extra hard nowadays.

Smile Relocating to Georgia from Hawaii

Aloha Goozer,

Thanks, I have been applying to several federal jobs online. No bites yet, the sequester is greatly affecting any change right now. I have lived here all my life and after acquiring my MBA it is hard to find any work here willing to pay for my degree. I thought I would have a better chance in the mainland versus here in Hawaii my home. Thoughts of other places possibly?

Thanks again, any information would be awesome!
Helen

Sounds like you need to cast your net over the whole country, pick the best job and move to that location. Much, MUCH easier than trying to pick a location and then find a job. Either that or you wait... my wife wanted to move back near her family here in GA (she's a Pharmacist), it took 18 months to find a job within 60~80 miles drive, one way and this is as of a few years ago. She finally managed to get another that's only 8 miles away (2.5 years of trying ~ State gov position), but it's only part-time and likely to be that way for the next 3~5 years before someone retires.

There are trade-offs no matter what you do, and with an MBA you're not exactly high demand (sorry, no offense intended, just that MBAs are very, Very common).
