Athens has two sponsors of year-round group bicycle rides for the community:

Nitty Gritty Bike Band, Athens, GA

Ride Maps | Athens GA Bicycling

In addition, the University of Georgia has a bicycle racing team that organizes group rides, though these will tend to be too fast for a casual rider:

.::UGA Cycling::.

Both Nitty Gritty and AGB have rides at a pace suitable for casual riders but also some faster rides for those in better shape.

Anyone have any suggestions on the best routes to get to campus on Gameday to avoid the traffic trying to get off the loop? Also any hidden gems/areas people have used for free parking? Parking Rules have changed this year and I'm hoping to be closer to Sanford than parking at East Village/Ramsey Center area.

I went to Athens last week and saw what appeared to be a major construction project going on downtown. Lumpkin @ Washington. Granted, I was intoxicated and it was nighttime so I might just be confused/wrong.

Any idea about what that is?

IIRC, that's going to be another mixed use project much like the one near W Broad and Hull. I need to go take a look around there again to see what progress has been made.
