38 | Downtown Grand Rapids | Apartments | Condominiums | Office | Restaurant | Retail | LEED Certified | Thirty-Eight - Should be open by now

Home :: The Gallery - Just opening as well.

You can also check out rentgr.com. You can probably find some smaller apartments/units that are owned by individuals. They will probably be cheaper too.
The last I heard, 38 Commerce's apartment were on a waiting list, but definitely worth checking on to find out because it's right in the middle of everything (especially the cool new hangouts like Stella's, Viceroy, and the new Pyramid Scheme and Beatnik Brewery going in next door).

The Boardwalk is huge and almost a city within itself. Love the interior courtyards.

There are also apartments at 101 S. Division, The Globe Apartments, Metropolitan Park, Loose Leaf Lofts, Hopson Flats and The Lofts.

Yeah, tons of places to live downtown really.

On a side note, I've been out of GR for like, 5 months now and there are already 3-4 new bars apparently. Crazy stuff.

Two more brewpubs in the works too, Brewery Vivant on Cherry Street and Harmony Brewing on Wealthy in Eastown. Reserve Wine Bar is also opening soon on Monroe Ave near the convention center.

Jandur & Magellan, thanks for the info. Those definitely seem like possibility. It's too bad 38 is rented out. That looks so sweet.

I would check with them. That was earlier this Summer. It's definitely one of the coolest ones downtown.

Check out Icon on Bond. It can be pricier, but in comparison to SF maybe not so much. I've lived here for the past year and the place is young enough but not too much, brand new, upscale/classy decor, completely sound proof, next to the river (I like to run/bike there) and in very walkable distance to all of downtown. The only lacking aspect is the walkable drug store/grocery. Unfortunately in GR, aside from East, this is hard to come by combined with the elements of a downtown feel as well.

I feel like I am plugging IOB, but in all honestly I have lived here for one year, am moving out of state, and am going to miss this place like no other. For the price you don't get this in any other city.

I checked out IoB but it was kinda far from the action, and they didn't have hardwood floors in the units they had available. I'm leaning towards plaza towers.

It sounds to me like the exact area you are looking for is the Gaslight Village area of East Grand Rapids. A few very charming shops and restaurants with a D&W grocery store in the neighborhood as well.

I wound up moving to Woodland Creek by 28th/E.Paris. Not walkable, but I gave up. It's a short commute to work, convenient, with lots of amenities.

It's a nice little location over there. Good luck.
