Was born in GR and still have some extended family there, so I have added GR to my list of possible place to relocate to. Was talking to a couple of companies based in the GR area at a trade show and they said that GR is really growing, unlike the rest of the state.

What is the climate like for sales and marketing jobs? Some of the old companies that I used to work for closed down the GR location and transferred the sales reps to Detroit or Chicago.

My background is in blue collar-type sales, packaging, shipping labels, auto repair & body shop software, computer forms, etc.. - any of these kind of jobs available?

There are a lot of sales jobs in the area, it's really just an issue of finding a decent one. A lot of them aren't what I would consider to be good sales jobs. There are some IT sales jobs, software sales etc. One of my friends sells Osha compliance stuff in the area.

It will really just come down to what you're looking for in terms of salary/commission etc.

Just looking for stability and long term employment. Some of the sales jobs that I have looked into don't seem to want anyone with experience anymore, just looking for 20-somethings willing to pound pavement all day. So looking for industries that hire experienced middle aged sales reps. One of the reasons I like blue collar sales like printing, packaging, labels and business supplies, they tend to hire people with experience.
