back home, there was a 'votech' (vocational technology) school, where any one can pay a pretty reasonable amount and take some classes in the evening. The course catalog is pretty random and ranges anything from math, to sign language, to CAD, to guitar.

Are there any of those schools in grand rapids? I'm looking through the community college and am not 100% sure.

I just want to take some interesting classes after work to learn something new and also make some friends in the area. Not really looking for an entire curriculum or anything.

You can take individual classes at GRCC without enrolling. You might be older than a lot of other people but there are plenty of adults that go there.

In Holland, the Arts Council does low cost, non-credit classes for adults in photography, dance, pottery, drawing, painting, yoga, etc. I am not aware of any similar opportunity in Grand Rapids, which, now that I think about it, is very strange...

We also used to have a community education efort, but that's gone.

I can only think of, or find, GED or for-credit classes for adults.

Looks like a business opportunity for someone!
