Wanted: Wireless internet service provider in GR area to provide service to individual veterans at Vets home.. (Saugatuck: apartment)

Ok. We all know about Version and Sprint wireless, both cost too much per month.

What I am looking for is an internet service provider, that has wireless access, that guys at the Veterans home can afford, which is about $40 a month.

The current internet system here is unacceptable, and the staff here are total dummies when it comes to internet. They are restricting our access to it, and tell us if we do not like it, get our own.

So I am looking for a company that will offer wireless at a reasonable rate.

Guys will be using personally owned desktops and/or laptops.

I believe the company that works with us may get up to 400 accounts in the long run, starting out with a few guys to test the system and if it works, more will join.

Is there any company in the area that can help us?

You don't own the facility so no one would invest in laying individual cable to each apartment. Without a lease/access agreement, the facility manager can simply refuse access to the cable company.

You are better off seeing if you can establish a wi-fi hot spot through a neighboring building. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

Must it be wireless? Some ISPs can use your phone lines for high speed internet (you access the service via a local phone number). In Saugatuck I used an ISP called iSERV which at the time was dial-up only (slow) for this particular area. Technology may have advanced since then. Also, if you have them, AT&T and Verizon offer their own plans.

You can also check services like Boingo that basically involve plugging a keychain into a USB. No idea how much it costs.
