Live downtown! My wife and I are your age and we live in the Heritage Hill neighborhood. I work at a job where I am frequently teach in Kentwood and go there to do some shopping, but other than that, it is really boring. Downtown is great! There is always something going on. We like to go for walks and go running downtown and I am into cycling and can get to many fun places to ride within ten minutes. When you live in Heritage Hill, you really feel part of the community which you won't have out in Kentwood. I would recommend living anywhere from downtown east towards East GR, south of Michigan and north of Wealthy. The area is safe and lots to do. Plus, you can get almost anywhere in Kentwood from downtown within 20 minutes.

I am too into biking and small amount of running. Can you please list areas to bike that are 10 mins from Heritage Hill? Besides running and biking, what else is going on in downtown that you like to do? I'm just trying to get ideas as I am very new to the area. Thanks.

You can bike anywhere in the city around Heritage Hill. Traffic on most streets is relatively slow, and some streets have new bike lanes.

You can also bike over to East Grand Rapids and do the loop around Reeds Lake (or run it, it's about 4.15 miles), or bike downtown and hook into the Kent Trails system which lead North to White Pine Trail or South toward Johnson Park and Millennium Park.

Just google map the area with the bike trail overlay.

Watch out for potholes - they're the worst I've seen in this town.
