So I know that the true authentic Chicago style pizza can be had a couple hours away, but I'm still curious if there is a restaurant near the gran rapids area.
I've tried old Chicago, and I've tried brickroad pizza, but I'm still looking for something that is closer. Sauce on top, lots of cheese, and buttery crust. Any recommendations?

As a Chicago native the simple answer is no. That place out in Grand Ledge is real though.

On occasion I would have a Giordano's shipped. I think it costs about $40 for a large.

I was going to say NO also. The pizza that people in West Michigan seem to rave about the most is Fricano's. It's not Chicago style though.

Pretty sure this is the place. It's been years but from what I remember it was very respectable deep dish/stuffed pizza. Really good, local place - Review of Cugino's Incorporated, Grand Ledge, MI - TripAdvisor

Personally I was always a big fan of Gino's in East Town. Very New York style but tasty none the less.

I have no idea if it exists in GR but when I was living in Detroit, I used to love getting pizza papalis. It's the real thing when it comes to Chicago deep dish. In fact, I took some trips out to Chicago and just for fun, tried to find a better slice than papalis but couldn't. The best I got (from recommendations) was just as good. If it can be found in east michigan, something certainly should exist in west michigan given you guys are better connected to Chicago.

Thanks! I actually went there a few months ago, and it was very good. But I didn't try the pizza. I'll have to do that next time.
