Tomorrow is the official start of the BRT Silver Line. Predictions on impact? When Phoenix put in its rail line, billions in density and investment happened. Do you think the south Division corridor will experience more investment that it already has been? Or do you think the current redevelopment and infill in what was once the cities most blighted neighborhoods have already been tied to it?

I'm pretty cynical that this will have any effect at all. This is just a bus after all, not a street car with permanent tracks like in Phoenix. If anything it might make Division less attractive to autocentric businesses since its dedicated lanes are going to make Division even less popular than it already is for vehicle drivers. Like it or not automotive related businesses are the core enterprises along the outer reaches of Division.

14 stations to anchor Laker Line system: See where they might go | MLive.com

I didn't realize the Laker Line was that far along. I've heard a decent amount of cynicism with the Silver Line. It's almost as if it's not true BRT. Did they not do it right? Or is it just a matter of people understanding it and more demand being created?
