I see these condominiums on the internet, and wonder what they're like. The street name is Devonwood Hills NE, and it's off Beltline. Is it a safe neighborhood? Are the condos a good deal for the money? Are the monthly fees very high? Are there a lot of mosquitoes there in the summer?

I can't give you information on the money aspect as I do not personally live there. But one of my best friends and his wife live in Northwood and I know they got a killer deal on the condo.

They have never had any safety concerns, the North East side is pretty safe, especially that far outside the city. They have really nice neighbors who the get along with.

Not sure why the concern about the Mosquitoes, but it just depends on the season. Sometime mosquitoes are bad, other years there are almost none. I wouldn't base my purchasing a house or condo on that.

Mosquitoes tend to be very local. If you have a lot of mosquitoes around your condo building in the summer, they probably hatched in the rain gutters of that building, or some such place. So it really depends more on the condo building than on where it is. I just happen to have a mosquito phobia, so it's a much bigger concern for me than for most people. A lot of people are scared of spiders, but I consider the common garden spider to be the most beautiful animal in the world. Everyone is different, and everyone has to take their own personal quirks into account when deciding where to move.

But, besides mosquitoes, I'm wondering the best way to get more information about those condos. Such as the state of their finances, how often they have special assessments, how well they keep up with maintenance and cleaning of the common areas, etc. I'm also wondering about the quality of construction. Such as whether people can hear their neighbors through the walls, whether there are often pipe leaks or electrical problems, and other such quality issues.

The trouble with shopping for a condo via the internet is that it's too hard to get good information, other than just hype from real estate agents.
