Hello, My wife and I are considering relocating to the Grand Rapids area.
We own a fence installation business here in South Florida.
We do have a successful business, However, we need more of a family friendly atmosphere, in general, for our family. We have small children, which we homeschool one of our children, and this area is just not what we want for our family: no sidewalks, too transient, not homeschool friendly, and there are plenty more examples.
My question: Would my line of work be a demand in this area?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank You, Brandon

Sure I think you'd stand just as good of a chance as any small business owner in this area. Assuming residential fencing? You won't find nearly the volume of construction and fence installation in Michigan as you do in South Florida, since pools are the main drivers of fencing (it seems) and not a lot of people put in pools here.

But the only fence company I can think of locally that does any kind of marketing is Fence Consultants. You could certainly out-market a lot of the other ones.

Fence Consultant is huge, though. May be difficult to cut into their contractor, institutional and residential business.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate it, Magellan and Allbusiness.
We will be moving in to the area at the end of April. I have found a job with a local fence Company. He is aware of my position in getting our Company going up there. He is fine with it, as long as I am respectful, and don't advertise to his customers, which is exactly how I would approach someone else working for me. I appreciate his integrity.
I will start marketing our business as soon as we get there.
I like the challenge of our relocation, and the work involved in getting our business reestablished. It will be a challenge, but God will prevail.
Sincerely, Brandon

Yes, Magellan.
Also, we install residential and commercial fences.
We do mainly residential, but we do a good portion of commercial, too.
I'm Very excited to get started working up there!

Thank You, Connie!
I would love have your help.
My wife, Nicole and I need to find a House to rent.
We are in the process of renting out our home here in Florida, while anticipating finding a suitable home there in the Grand Rapids area. As you may know, it can be a stressful situation.
We have two boys, ages five and three and two small dogs, so a fenced in yard, and in a great area are imperative.
Also, we home school, so a practical distance from the Homeschool Building
in Wyoming would be nice, too, if possible.
Please contact me:
Brandon Chapman 772-285-8224
We are heading up there towards the end of April, which is very soon.
We can't wait, and I look forward to speaking with you.
