I'm moving to GR soon, mainly because I need an area with great transportation because I can't drive, and I wanted to stay in MI.
I just don't know how to ride the bus lol
I'm from Saginaw, which is an average size city, but just really has no transportation system to speak of because there is no demand for it, and it's also a shrinking city, so no bus riding experience here.
And I'm sure there is plenty of you out there ready to post some snide and "witty" comments :P
Thanks to those of you that take the time to post something helpful

Well, I'm coming from Pennsylvania (to Michigan) and don't drive either. I don't know about GR's system, but all buses are pretty much the same. You enter the bus, pay the fare. There is a slot for money to go into. In Pennsylvania, you're not handed anything, but in Detroit/Detroit Metro, Milwaukee and Green Bay, you're handed a slip for another bus. Ask the bus driver; bus drivers are usually friendly and helpful. Then when you get to your location, there is a chord you can pull (above the windows) that indicates to the driver you're about the get off. I'd look at the GR transit site to see how much it is to ride and then have a practice ride to get a feel for it. Hope that helps!

Have you been to ridetherapid.org? The trip planner on the home page will plan your route for you and tell you exactly when you need to transfer.

If you really need the basics; the Grand Rapids bus system, "the rapid," has a YouTube video for you that explains how to ride a bus:

Once you do it a couple times it's not intimidating at all, the GR transit system is actually pretty convenient and well organized you can get anywhere. It's about to get better too.
