Well, there appears to be more going on downtown, which is great. I grew up in East Grand Rapids and have to say I would be totally fine with never going there again (my dad lives there though so I have to). I like Eastown... Heritage Hill. Where's East Hills.

My brother just bought a house on Ann St. NW, and I kind of like that area....

So, while you're all here, and since I might have to find a job when I move, how do people in office jobs (not law firms or banks) dress in GR? In San Francisco, it's ridiculously casual for the most part, which I love, and which I hope has spread to the rest of the country??

It really depends on the industry/where you work. Most administrative environments are business casual. There are a few tech type places that try to model the Bay Area "relaxed" environment. Your professional services like finance and legal are still going to be full business. In my experience that's still the same out in California too if they aren't smaller firms.

A lot of places allow nice jeans, but no shorts, at least on Fridays, but my husband's place is every day. My old job was jeans every day too, but it wasn't in GR.
