My very close friend asked me to be her mistress of ceremonies which is AWESOME and also a very new thing to me!!!
I told her I would help in any way i could....they have a reception site-the Eberhard center, but not a church to get married in. Does anyone have any good suggestions of a pretty church not too far from the Eberhard Center that is non-denominational?!
i am so excited! their wedding is the end of sept.!

Definitely Fountain Street Church. It's very liberal, and amazing on the inside. I've even heard it has people like Plato, DaVinci and Darwin in the stained glass windows, although I've never been able to find them.

Hey Thank you for the suggestion!!!
I looked up Fountain Street and it is $1800 to use for a wedding, I talked to my friend and they are not able to afford it. It was definitely a great suggestion (i think it looks really cool online!)

i am welcoming any and all suggestions!

I don't think there are any non-denoms downtown, other than Fountain. Most of the downtown churches are older (historic) Catholic, Presbyterian, Lutheran, and other denominations. Does it have to be a church? If they're not getting married into a particular faith, you might try other venues downtown. I think St Cecilia's Music Society has a few weddings.

If Fountain is booked, try some of the UCC (United CHurch of Christ). That's the least denominational denomination I can think of.

I know East Congregational is a pretty old church that does lots of weddings.

Thank you Magellan and suydam

The bride-to-be is methodist and the groom-to-be is catholic...his parents want it in a catholic church, but she really does not want it in one...so she was thinking that at least having it in a church would be a good compromise...i'll tell her to look into UCC....that east congregational is expensive too....(man, i dread the day i have to help pay for my wedding!!! i'll have it outdoors in mackinaw city maybe!)

That Music Society looks cool too!

Thank you! keep them coming......and if it is not RIGHT downtown, she can deal with that (i think)

What about the Frederick Meijer Gardens? It is easy to get downtown from there.
Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park

They have indoor options as well as outdoor options and I have heard they do a nice job.

Hey, thank you for the idea!
That was actually their first pick! All three of their possible weekends were booked at Frederik Meijer Gardens-and they were looking at friday and sat....but they definitely loved that idea!
