Hi,

We just moved here and I have a few questions:

Where can I find public swimming pools (other than YMCA)?

Also, I noticed that there are quite some hispanic people around here and I think it would be great for me to learn Spanish, but I seem unable to find (affordable) Spanish classes anywhere. I see several Spanish tutors offering their services on Craigslist, but I prefer the classroom setting because I think it's just more fun.

Thanks for your time and answers!

6 of the city's parks have pools.

As far as Spanish, try the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan. They may have some resources for you:

A lot of the high schools have pools, though public open and lap swims get really shoehorned around swim team practices in the fall and winter. I'd also try calling Grand Rapids Community College and the Forest Hills Aquatic Center for pool schedules.

you won't be dissapointed with a drive out to the Holland Acquatic Center (depending on how close you are to Holland) also, I'm not sure what the schedule is, but Zeeland High School has an absolutely awesome pool (University calibre).
