At lunchtime I barely see people walking to go anywhere for lunch.. It seems quite desolate – which makes me wonder where all the people who work downtown eat. Is this just a "winter" thing?

I noticed that Johnny's Lunchbox on Monroe had a sign that said "Closed until further notice".. I can't imagine it's a health-inspection related matter... Anyone have insight?

.

Well its the same for Kalamazoo. People aren't going to go out into the freezing temps to eat. If they do, they drive. Although some businesses are closing, wait for spring and you'll see many people.

It's a winter thing. Monroe Center is pretty lively in warmer weather, and they set up tables and chairs all over Rosa Parks Circle which are usually full.

Johnny's Lunch also closed their 28th St location, so I think it was more of a case of poor management.

In this economy, I'd rather drive 5 minutes to find a Burger King.

Honestly, you CAN get a nice $10 or less lunch at Leo's and other downtown digs, but many of them SEEM so expensive.
