Tried out New Holland pub last weekend, they have some great tasting beer. The Dragonsmilk is amazing.

Bells Two-Hearted was my favorite until I was at Founder's last week and tried their Double Trouble....wow.

while i understand that bell's is more well known, i think that founders definitely makes a better tasting product.

45% of Bell's sales are from Oberon. And while it is a nice nostalgic start to Summer, it frankly tastes like Miller Lite. So knock off half of Bell's production for anything particularly decent.

That said, Bell's is enormous compared to Founders and New Holland.

Bells produces 125,000 barrels of beer (45%, or 56,250 barrels of which is Oberon, yes).

Founders, by comparison has the capacity (but has not yet realized full capacity) to produce 30,000 barrels annually.

That's not to say Founders isn't fantastic, but Bell's is competing on a whole different level in terms of sales.

All that said, in my opinion I think Short's beats them both in quality and variety. Bell's has the best "mainstays" (e.g. Porter, Stout, Amber, Two Hearted, Oberon) in my opinion.

Founders, Bell's and Shorts all excel at special edition type beers. Bell's Cherry Stout, Oarsman Ale, Expedition Stout, Lambics, and others stand up very well to Founders Nemesis, KBS, Frangelic, Harvest Ale and Cerise.

At the end of the day, we are quite spoiled in Michigan. When I got to beer bars in Chicago and Cleveland, the best beers they have are from Michigan, bar none. When I bought beer in Florida last week, the best microbrew they had in bottles was Bell's.

Viva Michigan Beer!
