Good news that we're getting another low cost carrier in GR! This in addition to Allegiant Air starting up last year, moving from Lansing.

This is really good news for Grand Rapids and Western MI. I think you folks will like AirTran. They don't fly any small jets, they're all 737's or 717's. They have an affordable Business Class, and offer free satellite radio. Too many of the current airlines serving GRR fly those small commuter jets, and charge through the nose for the cramped experience.

We flew AirTran to Flint last Labor Day from Atlanta. Roundtrip tickets were $179. Nonstop from Atlanta to GRR on Delta was $450, and on a small jet. Even with the cost of the rental car, it was still a big enough difference, and I thought the drive was nice.

I just hope that they eventually connect you guys to their huge Atlanta hub. That would be fantastic, but Delta would probably go into attack mode and try to run them off the route.

At any rate, congrats to the region for landing this carrier.

Good news, only tempered by the fact that 3 of 4 announced flights go to FL, a state already serviced twice a week to 4 FL destinations by Allegiant Air. Oh well it's a start!
