My first post and considering a visit/move to GR. Being active with animal rescue groups here (Detroit area) and having dogs, I wonder how dog friendly the area is. Are there dog parks? parks that allow dogs on leash? Doggie daycare and boarding places? Other businesses that cater to dogs? Active rescue groups? Etc. I should note, in addition to my interest in the area, I also have an interest in starting up a dog related business and love what I hear and have read about GR so far in this forum. Thanks in advance for your input!

In my area in Cascade township (east of GR), yes, it's a very dog friendly area. There are plenty of pedestrian trails with doggie bag dispensers every half mile or so. The trails around here gets plowed after each snowfall and there's always activities on the trails, even when it's in the single digit outside. All dogs in Cascade must be on a leach, I believe it's the same everywhere else.

A couple miles away is a members only dog park called Shaggy Pines. Welcome to Shaggy Pines!

I believe there's a public one in the city of GR...can't remember the name offhand. I'm sure someone will chime in.

I go to the dog park in the city every day. It's in Fuller park but you know what, I can't think of the official name right now. It's named after some pet biz i think. I've heard there's another park in East town where people take their dogs off leash but I haven't been there yet, but supposedly it's a great local spot.
