why not? the invention of technology....or how it is mis-used and overused to date has already succeeding in stripping us of our humanity, our natural ability to bond and communicate with one another. it can be very draining.
Those are still human responses, not artificial. True AI would be a piece of technology that gathers the data and decides what type of reaction or response and not a scripted one.
I really don't understand why robots have to completely MIMIC humans in order to HELP them. Unless we are talking about the role of a therapist (?) and even then must they both look and act the part? Why MUST I be fooled in order to be helped. So no, there is no reason. Robots should always be distinguishable either by action or appearance or maybe even with a "warning" of some type. I don't want to be fooled by a con artist? So why not make this situation an obvious one.
