As for the rest, it's amazxing, isn't it, that soldiers and cops watch one an other's backs, especially in perilous circumstances like when being shot at. If not them then who, the likes of you? I think not.
You are too emotionally involved to examine this issue objectively. You should probably recuse yourself from this discussion.

I believe many of our soldiers end up being loyal to the other men that they serve with, their brothers in arms. There is a cohesion and support for eachother, like a tight family.
Perhaps it is that cohesion that also causes the police to hang together as one. They would view another cop ratting on them as a traitor. This does not serve the public good, but it keeps the unit tight. Gangsters operate that way too, they have to have complete trust in eachother.
So it makes it all the more difficult to weed out the bad from the good.
Wars are fought for greed, power, and wealth. They are fought for the benefit of those who would control the lives of others and the wealth of their land.
Fueled by absurd lies about honor and heroism and glory, they are in fact in fact nothing but acts of absurdity and futility.
There are no victors in war, there are only victims. It turns human beings into objects, dehumanizing everyone it touches.
The bloated stinking corpses and the screams of the wounded desensitizing the living to the point where they become numb and unable to connect to other living things.
War is our admission we have failed to evolve. We have failed to become civilized.

Some quotes that might surprise you:

“The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war.” ~ Douglas MacArthur

“I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity.” ~ Dwight Eisenhower

“In war, there are no unwounded soldiers.” ~ Jose Narosky

And finally:

“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature, and has no chance of being free unless made or kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.” ~ John Stuart Mill … favorite quote of a U.S. Army Ranger.

There are things worth fighting for, but most wars unfortunatly, are fought for profit.

What has happened to America's Police Officers?

The War on Drugs got the ball rolling, the War on Terror then exacerbated it.

A lot of paychecks & pensions depend on these wars.

Unfortunately it comes at the cost of freedom of speech & assembly (NDAA), unwarranted searches (TSA "feelers") and the destruction of too many young peoples' lives over a bag of weed.

I'm really liking what i read from posters such as jimhcom, claudhopper, and KaaBoom. You have expressed great ideas on how police work should be done, vs. how it's done now. We as people should demand you apply for your local police department, so you could start making a real difference. You'd have great advantages over the other applicants, most of whom are corrupt, uneducated, power-hungry, aggressive, ex-military PTSD savages. You'd probably be the first ones to ever join the force who'd want to make the world a little bit better place for the community you serve.

Sounds to me like the police in your town are doing exactly what they're paid to do. What do you think you are, like, all alone on the road? Be very glad if you've only made out with some verbal abuse and not tickets or charges. Maybe you should fill out the "hurt feelings" report if you are so super-sensitive when someone tries to actually drag your feet back onto the ground. What should the police have done, give you a hug and let you continue?

I don't want drivers on the road who speed, have illegal window tints, or have "other safety issues" to go unnoticed by the police. It's not because drivers like you are a safety hazard to yourselves, you are that to us others on the road too.

Public streets and parks are designated as such for a specific reason by their owner. They were not build for the intended use of housing campers and protesters. Doesn't matter if it's hipsters who refuse to take a shower, or some evil corporation, if the city hasn't approved the "occupying" of their public assets, they certainly have the right to return their streets and parks to whatever use they were originally built for. If it takes the use of physical force, so be it. Even in Oakland your average resident probably wants to get to work on time and enjoy public parks.

Interesting that you think you speak for we the people.
Your sarcasm also suggests you have some anger issues, which means you somehow feel threatened by other peoples opinions.
Have you ever considered looking into counseling?
