Actually, I've seen women do it and they didn't need a device.
If men and women are ever put in a situation where they have to use the trough style urinals you find in Wrigley Field together, we will have crossed into a new reality.
I have been in places where males and females use the same restroom but not, usually, at the same time. I try to be polite and pick up the toilet seat first.
Probably never. I feel the majority of men (especially American in this case) would be way too pervy and get turned on by seeing something like a girl's panties from under the stall. Meanwhile, I could imagine most women would just see a guy peeing and think nothing of it, or perhaps even just gross. On the woman's side, not only would she dislike getting oogled over, many women use restrooms to fix themselves. Adjusting their breasts, changing tampons, adjusting their panties under their pants or dress. I feel most wouldn't want to do this in the presence of a man!
I am a man too so no bias here, but I would say the pervy nature of the majority of men would make this a terrible idea.

3. I don't know if I'm ready for that, but I'll try.
1. Are you sure that the women which you saw doing this were "the rule" as opposed to exceptions to the rule, though?

1. I hate to break it to you, but AFAIK, some/many males are already way too turned on by many things that females do and/or wear, so yeah.
2. You could be right here.
3. So how about we simply build much tighter bathroom stall doors for this, if you catch my drift here?

As a man, I'm having a hard time trying to understand why men would get so hot and bothered by using the women's restroom. The last place I want to be is the room where women are peeing, farting, pooping and changing tampons.
To that end, I greatly appreciate having different restrooms.

I can do anything guys can do...except play sports, and pee standing up. Not gonna happen. I'll always sit down to **** like I was potty trained to do.
In college, I was night porter at Holiday inn. Part of my job was cleaning the bathrooms. By far, the ladies room was the worst. And when was the last time you saw men commandeer a bathroom? There were times when the line to the ladies room got long and women would force their way into the mens room and declare it their own. At 19, i learned to not get in the way of women who have to pee.
In France, I had to go into a bathroom in a train station. Coed. I walked in, walked out to look at the sign. All stalls and wire mesh over the top like a prison. Personally, I can understand my wife or daughter feeling uncomfortable in that environment.
What would be the benefit?

The end of gender segregation in public restrooms. People will no longer have to go to restrooms based on gender. Transgendered people would probably benefit the most from this.
