Everyone can write their own definition of Socialism.

But our discussions can only become meaningful if we use the definitions of Socialism Founding fathers, like Marx, Proudhon, Fourier, Owen, Engels, etc.

Even so that definition is wrong. Socialism refers to people controlling the means of production, not to government owning the means of production. Public ownership is just one possible method to achieve socialist goals. So is having strong unions and workers rights, which has been the favored path of western countries for the last hundred years.

I don't know how many died, how many would have died, how many are going to die no matter what, etc. to say. I do know that everyone dies and there is no system in the universe that is going to prevent it.

It is great to say that the VA failed our veterans when the truth is it was Congress who failed our veterans. In the past decade, the VA has had to deal with new veterans from the Iraq & Afghanistan wars and Congress hasn't given them the funding to take care of these new people seeking help. Every Republican in Washington voted against giving funding to the V.A. back in January and when this report came out, they were all shamed into doing the right thing.

And as for veterans dying waiting for treatment? How many civilians die waiting? How many die because they do not have access to any health care? There is a video of a man who died in the waiting room at an E.R. Where is the outrage about that? There is only outrage here because it is a government program. But, there SHOULD be outrage as long as anyone is denied health care-veteran or civilian.

And for the record, I am a veteran and I PROUDLY use the V.A. I receive good care. My ONE complaint is that constant turnover of personnel. Being a woman, I use the Women's Clinic. There are not enough female veterans in my area to retain a gyn doc-so I usually see a physician's assistant. The V.A. cannot afford to pay these P.A.s much so they usually find higher paying jobs elsewhere so, I am forced to see a different P.A. almost every year when I go in for my annual. But, being a vet, I am used to that. When I was active duty, it was not usual to see a different doc every time you went in. Either you were new on base or your doc was.

"The Paul Krugmans of the world and their leftist allies call VA health care a triumph of socialist medicine. But once again we find out that this triumph is a defeat and that socialism doesn't work.

Blame Socialism, Not Shinseki | RealClearPolitics

The VA failed our veterans and Socialism failed the VA. Simply put, Socialism is a kissing cousin to Communism and does not work either.
Because the military is not socialism. It's the military. Everything military is the military. The complete opposite. I don't know how anyone could confuse the military with socialism. That's just lunacy.
