It's only discussed not among more OUTGOING women...lol.

The only women that would be bothered by this are probably very shallow types that a man would be better off without anyways. The irony is they would probably be irate if a man rejected them based on what they looked like down there.

What are the personal benefits to a woman who is circumcised?

Can't seem to find any that aren't in step with the crazy cultural belief that it purifies them for marriage.

Women who constantly find themselves with UTI's and vaginal infections don't run out and get any part of what they keep in their panties cut off.

Intactivists tend to emotionally defend their stance. They also tend to deny proof that circumcision is beneficial in any way, shape or form.

First they compare it to FGM.

Then the same vocal minority use words such as "barbaric" and "mutilation" and "abuse" for their reasons of not circ'ing their male children and why no other parent should circ theirs either.

….the circumcised men harbored dramatically fewer bacteria that survive in low oxygen conditions. They also had 81% less bacteria overall compared to the uncircumcised men, and that could have a dramatic effect on the men’s ability to fight off infections like HIV, says Price. Previous studies showed that circumcised men lowered their risk of transmitting HIV by as much as 50%….

Not if the women did their research.

They'd be bothered by a lot more.

The two can't really be compared. It would be silly to even try.

Do you know what works WAY better than circumcision for all of the above? Condoms, frequent STD testing if you have multiple partners and being careful who you sleep with.

The reason you can find "benefits" from circumcision is because the western world practices and endorses circumcision, if we did the same with female circumcision we would have found benefits for that too.

How do you know it's way better? Cite your sources.

Condoms reduce the risk but aren't 100%. Not even for birth control.

How does "frequent STD testing" prevent what already exists?

Combine circumcision with condom use….reduces the rate of STDs more than it would for the un-circ'd.

Why did you leave out the issues the un-circ'd have and aren't related to sex?

The reason they are found is because they exist - all over the world.

FGM has been around for centuries - you go find one benefit.

Are you serious? You don't think condoms reduce the risk of STDs more than circumcision? Circumcision reduces SOME STDs and isn't very affective at doing so. Condoms reduce the risk of STDs by orders of magnetude over circumcision. STD testing reduces the spread of STDs and causes people to have them treated.

There is a possibility that reducing the length of the labia minora will reduce the chances of infection. However, no scientists would persue this because of the stigma in western culture and there is no agenda backing this research.

This whole argument is complete nonsense. There are many parts of the body that when removed can cause certain benefits. However, nobody argues for any of them to be general practice besides circumcision. I am circumcised and I clearly see why foreskin evolved in the first place, it reduces friction during sex.

"In addition to the changes in sexual behaviour, it has been shown that an infant's response to pain can be altered for years as a consequence of circumcision.31-32 As noted by Taddio, "postsurgical central sensitization (allodynia and hyperalgesia) can extend to sites of the body distal from the wound," suggesting a supraspinal effect.33 How the central nervous system is altered in humans to account for these behavioural changes is not understood, but in addition to central nervous system changes, peripheral nervous system damage is also exhibited by loss of the preputial corpuscular receptors and by amputation neuromas at the circumcision scar.34 This is consistent with the large numbers of nerve bundles in the male prepuce, which range from 6/nm dorsally to 18/nm ventrally. Although Taddio's work suggests a central nervous system change, it is unclear whether circumcision alters sexual behaviour by central nervous system changes, local sensory alterations of the external genitalia or a combination of both central and peripheral nervous system changes. Alteration in penile sensitivity most likely explains the sexual behaviour alteration associated with circumcision. Because of the sexual behaviour changes associated with circumcision, veterinary medicine avoids circumcising breeding stock and carefully repairs preputial damage.35 Non-human primate breeding programs do not use circumcision."

"Obviously, sensory innervation of the external genitalia is just one component of a very complex neural network that results in normal reproductive behaviour. Differences in the genital sensory innervation (such as the protopathic innervation of the human ***** penis versus the dense corpuscular receptors found in the rhesus monkey) may help explain sexual behavioural differences between primate species that cannot be fully explained by morphology alone.78-80 The reproductive advantages provided by the prepuce during the last 65 million years should not be taken lightly. The results of this study demonstrate that the human prepuce is not "vestigial" but is, in fact, an evolutionary advancement over the prepuce of other primates. This is most clearly seen in the evolutionary increase in corpuscular innervation of the human prepuce and the concomitant decrease in corpuscular receptors of the human ***** relative to the innervation of the prepuce and ***** of lower primates."

Anatomy and histology of the penile and clitoral prepuce in primates

"The foreskin is specialised tissue that is packed with nerves and contains stretch receptors.[6][24][25] Sorrells et al. (2007) reported the areas of the penis most sensitive to fine touch are on the foreskin.[26]

The foreskin enables the penis to slip in and out of the vagina non-abrasively inside its own sheath of self lubricating, movable skin.[27]

Taylor et al. (1996) described the foreskin in detail, documenting a ridged band of mucosal tissue. They stated: "This ridged band contains more Meissner's corpuscles than does the smooth mucosa and exhibits features of specialized sensory mucosa."[6] In 1999, Cold and Taylor stated: "The prepuce is primary, erogenous tissue necessary for normal s"exual function."[24] Boyle et al. (2002) state that "the complex innervation of the foreskin and frenulum has been well documented, and the genitally intact male has thousands of fine touch receptors and other highly erogenous nerve endings."[28] The AAP noted that the work of Taylor et al. (1996) "suggests that there may be a concentration of specialized sensory cells in specific ridged areas of the foreskin."
