Muslim/Islamic extremists are a scary bunch of religious nut jobs that don't care who they take out in their quest to serve their Allah. Obviously.

The fact that they had an impact on the US (9/11) speaks to what a threat they ARE to "western civilization" aka: countries that live in the current year, not the 7th century.

This is only scandalous if you assume Muslims are a homogeneous group. They are not; not even close. Comparing Shiites and Sunnis is like comparing Roman Catholics with Protestants. Both the later are Christians, but tell that to the people who lost friends and relatives during the war in Northern Ireland.

Or for a more recent example, comparing Westboro Baptist Church with an Episcopal Diocese led by a homosexual bishop.


Al Qaeda is an extremist group that is willing to kill to get what it wants. They do not care if they are killing infidels or people they believe to be heretics. Actually, that's not true... they would probably prefer to kill people who claim to be Muslim but "aren't following the true path".

I think you meant to say any civilization.

What's this "we in the west" business? So, the folks in the middle east are A-Okay with slicing people in two and burning them alive? Careful with that broad brush, you may paint yourself into a corner.
