Always? You paint with too broad a brush my friend. I see no Timucuans in north Florida, nor do I think the Comanches will ever retake large parts of Texas much less that the Apaches driven out by the Comanches will return.

Just curious but do white people want Hispanics to become classified as "white" in order to diminish Hispanics collective power as a group or do white people just love Hispanics so much that they want them in their group?

At first Hispanics wanted to be classified as white so that they wouldn't be treated like blacks. When the society changed and make up policies came into play then whites didn't want an extra group holding their hands out saying give us our 40 acres and a mule.
I thought that it was a result of national priorities. If Mexicans were proclaimed White the workers could immigrate, if not then they would have been official restricted from entering until US policies changed in the 60s when the national origin preferences for immigration was dropped
Mexicans were never classified as anything but white under the U. S. immigration laws and the national origin preference provisions (or any kind of quota) never applied to independent countries of the Western Hemisphere.

Most White people want minorities to have assimilation into Mainstream American Society. Some Whites care more about looks and no amount of assimilation is good enough.

Cultural assimilation or structural assimilation?
Are they looking for minorities to simply embrace an All-American, white picket fence and apple pie identity or are they looking for minorities to be fully absorbed into white society (such as through intermarriage)?
