Corruption: Yes. Unfortunately most if not all countries are.
Religious extremism: Yes. Just look at the Middle east.
Power Grabs: Yes.
Colonialism: Ended 60 years ago. That sure is one long hangover.

When it comes to people, what matters is quality, not quantity. And that's the answer to your question.

I agree!

South Korea was dirt poor in 1950. They were conquered by Japan and treated worse than the the Jews. Today they are prosperous.

Singapore was heavily colonized, probably more than Africa.. now they are prosperous and have no natural resources.

We know why, but I rather not say:

May I point out that it took The Master Race a thousand years to shake off the domination of Rome and come to flower?

i feel like the perception of Africa has changed a good deal in the past 15 years or so-for the better. I think the continent is just so torn up by infighting and the effects of colonialism and the slave trade. That runs so deep.

We'll never know how great Africa could have been-too many lost souls and lost resources that could have made a huge difference. Any one person or one discovery can change the course of the world. We've seen that time and time again.

exactly.

People talk about Africa like it never existed essentially on its own for 99% of human history. Makes no sense

so countrys are supposed to go from oppressed to world power in less than 60 years.

most countrys have dozens of unrelated nations, languages, customs, heritages prior to their arbitrary borders being drawn.

They need to be ruled probably. Either that or just be more into nature and be left alone. Tough life for them, but maybe that is how they want it.

Tribalism, warlords, civil wars, all lead to poor education systems for the people. Easy to control an uneducated populace. Follow that up with a lack of capitalist thinking by the leadership. Capitalism is about the fastest economic device to create a rising nation. But all the tribalism and small time warlords dont think that big in scope.

There are a few bright stars of course but for now most stays stuck.
