That is correct, unlike other parts of the country. In heavy populated cities, it takes just a few law breaking people to cause major infections to a building, town, or business and will overwhelm the hospitals.

40% of Americans are overweight, obesity causes other underlying problems and can easily cause death and overwhelm ER.

If you look at the death rate across many cities, other than old age it's people who have heart disease and weight problems.

You cannot support your "authoritarian" claim with any sort of evidence but that won't stop you from repeating it. New York and Los Angeles are not in competition regarding the disease and how to deal with it and your claim of that is another pathetic attempt at partisan divisiveness.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Republican but Democrats are just power hungry. That's just what I'm seeing. The whole they're trying to "save lives" notion is bogus to me. What they keep doing is moving the goal post. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. First it was to not overwhelm the hospitals, then it was to "flatten the curve", now they're just constantly looking for every other way to politicize this situation any which way they can. And the vast majority are democratic cities that are having fun with this power play in order to "Save lives". But they don't care about saving businesses, they don't care about the lives of those people whom can't work, they don't care about the lives of those whom are going to be suffering from not having an income. Democrats can keep pocketing millions of dollars while they just want us to sit around and take some more stimulus checks, that'll do diddly squat and put the country more into debt.

Even as you deny making political statements you have named political parties at least four times and accompanied that with charges that "they" are looking to politicize the situation. You add in the ridiculous nonsense that "they" don't care about saving businesses or the lives of people who can't work or those who will be suffering financially.

Why? What's in it for any politician who makes their constituents' lives miserable? Is it really only the members of one party "pocketing millions?"

If you really believe that "they're trying to 'save lives'" is a "bogus" idea please tell us why. Is there something wrong with that attitude? Is there a better reason than that to do anything?

I'll be surprised if the rest of California doesn't also change it now, which means Oregon and Washington will be next.

L.A. has seen 2 major out-of-control riots over the years, the Koreatown riot (over the Rodney King verdict) and the 1965 riot in Watts. With riots like this, you are totally on your own as the police's hands are tied.

In the Watts riot, which went on for 4 days of looting and fires, half of the LAPD police officers were there and just stood there with folded arms as well as the fire department, as they were too afraid to enter the area, with snipers shooting from rooftops.

Due to gentrification in South Central, and sky high rents, a good number of the minorities from that area have now been forced to relocate to the San Bernardino area, Victorville, Hesperia, Palmdale, Lancaster, so that element is not there as it was 10-20 years ago, and due to that, there might be less a chance of a riot erupting over this continual lockdown.

And what other group might incite a riot over this? The Millennials? Don't think so! The many Asians that populate the L.A. area? Now there's a possibility!

Allow people to make their own decision. If you are an at risk person, you SIP. If you have family that is at risk, you should SIP. The curve was flattened. More ventilators and beds are available. Up in Sac they converted the Arco Arena into a hospital. Let people get back to work and let the Health Care system do what it needs to do.

It has already been pointed it that suicide, domestic abuse, child abuse, etc. is on the rise. The latter will cause life long problems.

Social distancing needs to be followed. Masked need to be worn. Let people work. More will die if the economy crumbles more than it already has. The Gov't can't just keep printing $.

cd :O)

This will happen in many cities, nobody is gonna pay more with all the amenities removed.
Places like Des Moines, Iowa will explode; I think Tesla is already moving there.
Edit: LA mayor says no 3 month order.
