What happened? The topics are the same, the questions/issues are weak and biased...and pretty much without substance. In other words, it's become POC.

It might have something to do with what’s been going on over the past week and a half. Any other topic is getting drowned out.

I won't even venture into POC, because it's the absolute worst version of political discussion on this forum. Maybe some of the topics are the same in Great Debates, but the conversation is much more civil and thoughtful, with a lot fewer people parroting the talking points they've heard on talk radio or read in blogs.

From my standpoint I have been involved
in some rather engaging dialogue.
Sorry you missed out.

From my perspective I have seen media parroting off of regular folks such as us...............

So does the religion and spirituality forum. Politics is a religion - it should be moved there

I think of GD as a forum for serious and civil discussion. P&C should be renamed to the I&B forum. For, Ignorance and Bigotry, or maybe the "Trump" forum. Certainly topics will cross, but GD is for intillegent discussion, the other is for mud slinging and name calling. CD provides forums for everyone.

I blame Toosie for quitting.
That mod axed threads here 10 at a time.

There is a fair degree of moderation here - it really is quite a difference from the fetid cesspool that is the Politics forum.

That said, there are quite a few threads in the Great Debates forum which are nothing more than the handful of usual suspects just airing their political grievances and dressing it up enough so that is slides by here. They know exactly what they're doing. They're so all-consumed all the time with politics that they cannot have a non-political conversation.

You probably know their type from the real world. I know I do...

Ideally, that’s what the GD section should be like, but as of late it’s becoming a lot like the POC section. I think mods are a lot more strict on what they allow here, but even then it takes time to clean up threads.
