It was said 25 yrs ago, the NRO (National Reconnaissance Organization), could read newspaper articles from their satellites in space...can you imagine what they can do today?!!
I'm gonna cover up the skylight in my bathroom!

Seriously, I hope that I'm not interesting enough to attract the attention of the NRO.

While I accept that such agencies are necessary in the ongoing intelligence-related activities for U.S. national security and I'm thankful for the satellite intelligence provided in protecting our servicemen and servicewomen overseas, I do recognize the potential for abuse of such surveillance.

Someone is already doing this, or the equivalent. The Utah Data Center holds a full dossier for every American citizen. Via the Google/Microsoft/Government consortium that Snowden told us about years ago when he revealed the Prism program. Couple that with satellite surveillance, and it is clear that we no longer have the right to privacy in the USA and many other places in the world.

I watch many British crime shows. They always have a large number of CCTV cameras to track the movements of suspects, oven street by street. However, I had read (but don't remember where) that most of the London cameras are privately owned, not government cameras. Anyone actually know if this is true?

No camera can identify anyone wearing a hoodie, a mask, and sunglasses.
Only those dumb enough to carry a phone etc. will be apprehended, which fortunately is a good majority of our criminal element.
