If China had catered to the Nimby's and Historical Preservationists like we do in this country, can you imagine what that country would look like today? Some of those cities might resemble San Francisco, where the the Kings and Queens on the Hills, won't allow any building higher than 3 stories to block their views of the Bay.

Ohhhhhhh...so this was a joke thread. Sorry. You had me completely fooled.

No joke. This is becoming more and more common. Outright admiration of fascism and totalitarianism, disapproval of free speech and freedom of thought.

I genuinely fear for the future of our American democracy.

It was shameful in the 1930s when Westerners went to the USSR or Nazi Germany and admired those countries.

It's just as shameful today for someone to admire Communist countries.

What's admirable is a country that gives all of its citizens the right to choose their government and gives all of its citizens basic human rights. The US is flawed on both fronts, but it tries. China fails on both fronts.

Mussolini made the trains run on time, and Hitler built the Autobahn. The same mindset that allowed people to envy those achievements while ignoring the other realities that went along with them, is apparently still with us.

While banning YouTube, Twitter etc. in China, China itself is apparently using same, to distribute propaganda worldwide in an attempt to undermine the Uighyur message.

All news media are controlled, LOL
Not going to argue with the warmongrels. But you might have better reviews if you change your thread to read "Uyghur genocide".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uyghur_genocide
Xinjiang conflict — This has become the largest-scale and most systematic detention of ethnic and religious minorities since the Holocaust.
Victims: est. ≥1 million detained
Location: Xinjiang, China
Date: 2014–?

China's stable village life limited the severity of collapsing empires and civilizations, and enabled the accumulation and preservation of knowledge over millennia. Tai chi is ancient knowledge that anyone can use today for fitness. The knowledge of other ancient civilizations is mostly gone. But the current hypermodernization and urbanization is wiping out that village stability. They will have a hard fall down from the industrial age.

We can be so, so lucky there wasn't a worldwide media in force during the genocide that occurred in this country and South and Central America 200-300 years ago.

Like Japan, China wants to remain a homogenous country, at all costs, even if they have to resort to robotic caregivers, which now exist over there.

China is not Japan in terms of education, innovation, or wealth. The per capita income of China today is roughly comparable to Equitorial Guinea and Surinam. And the notion that robot caregivers are going to deal with the mammoth demographic crisis China currently faces borders on fantasy--like just about everything else you've written on this thread.

That's the problem. You're awfully smitten with the flashy video of a high-rise being built lickety-split. What you don't realize is that video was created to impress credulous rubes.

Do you really want to live in a high rise that was built in one day? After all, if you're going to post that video, let me post what happens to buildings that get built that quickly. These are not outliers, but rather signs of the shoddy construction that is endemic throughout Chinese infrastructure.

Oh, and the argument that 'other cultures committed genocide 200 years ago' is not only lame given our advance in awareness, but morally repugnant. "But other people do it," doesn't really hold any water when a country is herding an entire population in to concentration camps.
