Story is too long to read in its entirety. Can the poster make a point?

Are you implying that mistakes and cover ups never happen at non government run hospitals and medical facilities? I really hope you aren't, because that would be absurd. Have you ever heard of someone having an amputation, only the Dr amputated the wrong limb? Or how about over/under prescribing meds? Or flat out giving the wrong med? Or using CPR on a DNR patient? The list goes on and on.

The article is talking about one specific unit that wasn't "policed" properly.

Everyone I know who turns 65 jumps at the chance to sign up for government run health care. Why not the rest of us?

one that operated with virtually no outside scrutiny and botched 92 of 116 cancer treatments over a span of more than six years — and then kept quiet about it, according to interviews with investigators, government officials and public records.

92 out of 116!!!!! You must be joking trying to compare this level of incompetence with doing chest compressions against someones will. Can we expect that kind of "oversight" with the "new" healthcare plans? These are gov't doctors.

An average of 195,000 people in the USA died due to potentially preventable, in-hospital medical errors each year. There will be 500 more tomorrow.

I never said they were government Dr's, I said government run. Maybe you missed the title of the article you posted - "at VA hospital..."

My point was, you can't judge a nationwide project on one hospital. And hopefully now that this has been exposed, they will see that supervision and collaboration is always needed.

It should have been obvious that this Dr Kao needed supervision - it clearly stated that he had limited experience in brachytherapy. Who the heck lets some inexperienced person do anything? You can't even make fries at McDonalds without supervision.

He did. He pointed out that he had nothing to say at all.

The point is that if the Gov't can't take care of the people who trust it why have it? Is this the direction that our "horrible" healthcare system is going? No real oversight? And it's not like it happened a few times 96 times. This Md and his supervisors should be relugated to making fries.
