I hate when newspapers charge $ to read an old story online. Some websites are free, but there are a few who act like they house the Holy Grail. I refuse to pay, or genuflect in that case.
Many people who post in City Data Forums, especially the Political Forum, often provide a link to substantiate their opinion or to share news items of interest. If all news media websites made you pay for access to online content how would that impact you as both an informed person and as an opinionated forum poster?
I guess id go back to playing Tiddliwinks 8 hours a day.
I think it would be horrible, as well, however, I am not going to pay for online news. They are going to have rethink what journalism is before I do it.
I generally only post a link, just to back my point up. I already knew about the issue before, but some people have a hard time believing what people say on a site, so I post a link, preferably to a reputable news agency.
It is a scary thought that a significant number of people believe what they read on C-D? This is entertainment.
Believe the truth is in nothing that you hear, half of what you see and the opposite of what you read.
