The show has been running for years now, so everyone is used of her conduct in the court room.
I wonder what you folks think. Is she a positive role model?
sometimes she is too insulting for no reason at all. I agree that some people deserve it but she's rude to everyone that come on her show.
I think she is selectively rude, and sometimes it appears that she has made her mind up (been prepared before filming?) before she listens to the plaintiffs.

True.
This show's announcer professes (loud and clear) Judge Judy to be REAL, but then you watch the proceedings, which don't bear a whole lot of resemblance to the court experiences I've had. It's too exaggerated, but that's what it has to be to hold the audience.
My husband loves the show, otherwise I would never watch it.
I cringe at the antics of some of the people on that program, both their behavior at the court as well as the reason they are there in the first place.
OTOH, the screeching, strident Judge herself, while she may hand down a fair and reasonable decision, is just as off-putting. I admire her smarts, but not her showmanship.
I don't doubt that there are judges who are as rude to the people appearing before them as she is, but I have not seen many of them. Every litigant is entitled to be treated with respect, to be given a reasonable opportunity to present his/her case, and to have their arguments duly considered. She falls far short of this standard.
Is that her or editing for ratings? These shows are just like the reality shows. They edit for drama.
