Seems the Mexican people are having a hard time from what I read. Plus so many feel they must come here just to make a living, when they have a Country with so many natural resources. It seems their Gubment has always been corrupt, and the Citizens are helpless to do anything to correct it. So for the good of the Mexican People, should we Annex Mexico, and make it our 51st State? My Mexican Fiends think is a great idea.

We have to look at the future with better eyes than that. the Yucatan has great tourist potential. Plus creating jobs in Mexico, will lessen the need for so many to migrate here, to work for nickles on the dollar. win win situation all around.

Something tells me the rest of the world wouldn't be to happy with that decision. Annexting without popular support would be a bad idea.

Once we had the chance to annex Cuba, but since it would have been a slave state, our government turned down the idea. Imagine how different the world might have been if that had happened.

Anyway, back to Mexico. The citizens live at a considerably lower standard of living the most Americans do. Also, there are lots of other problems, like infrastructure, overall health of the citizens, and would they accept the rule of law from people so far away? Afterall, it would be Washington doing the ruling, and they wouldn't have any representation for a while at the least.

Not to mention the huge cost that would be involved with doing something like that. We are already in a huge debt hole, it'd be bigger if we decided to annex a country like Mexico. Then policing them, and no doubt we'd have to have armed forces placed there, which runs the bill up hgher and higher.

But in the end, it would have to be the Mexican people who wanted to be annexed. Even though your freind is all for it, I don't believe the large majority of Mexican citizens are.

Why take on a burden of a country that has never had stbilty and is so corrupt. When you annex anyhting it has to have alot of potential not a future of increasing violence and just a burden.

Annexing Mexico, would also help correct all those foolish notions. Nip them in the bud as it were.

Cuba would be our 52nd State. I have plans for expansion, which is what made our fine Country Great. "Once a business quits growing, it starts dieing"
