Heres a simple question with maybe a not so simple answer.

Why is it that some in Hollywood defend Roman Polanski's raping of a child? Harvey Weinstein, Debra Winger, David Lynch, Martin Scorsese, and the obvious Woody Allen, why do these people think its right to defend the actions of this guy? Is it because hes simply one of their own and they feel they have to stick together?!?!? Surely this isnt the case?

What do you think?

By remaining on the lam for 30 years, they feel that he has "suffered" enough; and they love to add that his life had already been adversely affected by the Nazis and Charles Manson.

Other than that, they're just rallying behind "one of their own".

If I were him, I'd want to get all that off my shoulders. The system would probably be willing to treat him somewhat leniently were he to simply turn himself in.

Listen,

If the woman (I say woman because she is around 50 now), had been severly hurt, or had ill effects because of it, I'd say bring him in.

I understand things were different in the 70's, then they were today. She even says it was consentual, and that she wants the charges dropped. However, the state brought the charges, not her.

So, since she is ok, and she wants the charges dropped, I'd say let it go. I don't support what he did, but it was a long time ago, and nothing ill came from it. Ban him from coming to the United States for life, but let the rest of it go.

Two questions:
1. Is he now a danger to society?
2. How would imprisoning him make the world a better place?

1. I think not, I doubt he could even get lead in his pencil with Viagra as old as he is.

2. No, people who have nothing to do with the case, have a sense of justice that hasn't been served. It should be left up to the person/persons involved in the case. The woman who was raped as a girl wants the charges dropped, they should be dropped, end of discussion.

No one else has a dog in this fight.

I whole heartedly agree. Not only is he a child molester he is a fugitive who ran. What a coward! He should be held accountable for his actions regardless of how long ago it was.

Would you allow your children around him?

Why not? I'd gladly allow my children to spend time in the company of great creative artists.

Well you certainly have that right, but would you leave them there alone? Assuming you have young children under 18 that can not properly defend themselves if he were to drug them and coerse them into "consentual" sex.
