Sort of inspired by the national spending priorities thread, but I'm asking if you, personally, had $1,000,000,000,000, what would you do with it?

Help all the people and charities that I have come accross the past few years who I was otherwise unable to help. I'd also pay off some bills, embark on an awesome trip around the world (visit Asia, for example) and save for the kids' college fund.

The simple answer,

Whatever the hell I feel like doing.

Seriously, I'd start a non profit like Gates and Buffet. Probably for less fortunate Americans.

I would buy Florida and give it back to the Seminoles.

By the time I got done counting it to make sure I wasn't getting cheated I would be too old to enjoy it.

Revitalize some of our down-trodden regions like the midwest rust belt by bringing some sort of industry along to create jobs for the hundreds of thousands who lost their jobs in the auto industry and other industries over the last decade or two.

Donate billions to cancer research in hope of a cure.

Buy out all the major TV and cable networks and eliminate all the crap that is on TV to include all the 24hour news garbage and replace it with quality entertainment that people actually want to see.

Attempt to find one honest politician and then back him/her financially as next President.

First, I'd dump it into one of those coin-star machines and convert it to paper bills. Added to the pennies I already have in jars, it would probably come to about 1.1-trillion.

I'd put it in the bank with the rest of my money, and walk to the supermarket, as I have a couple of things on my shopping list.

I would infuriate all my conservative friends by giving some of it to people who are poor, instead of investing it in corporations whose CEO bonus would come to about half a trillion.

I'd give a couple of thousand dollars to every head of household in Iraq and Afghanistan, and tell them that we are their friends trying to help them out. That would take about 20-billion of it (2%), which is what we should have done in 2002, and then our government would still have that trillion we wasted there telling them we are their enemies trying to kill them. Who says you can't buy friendship?

I'd set up my own department of social welfare. No application forms or certification, if anybody needs some money to get through payday, just ask for it. I don't think very many people would ask for more than they needed, and if a few people abused it, so what?

With that kind of money I will first see how to invest it wisely. Then I would spend some of the INTEREST for a good cause, and it better be good, because I would not bail out banks or other loosers!
And I would spend all my time traveling. All over the world - every corner, every country. It was always my dream to travel much more than I do and can afford. It would probably take years till i could tell that I saw everything, but it would be worth every penny.
What a dream.....
