The Social Security/Cost of Living Increase was denied to all people receiving social security, who have worked and pay taxes all their lives, as well as the Disabled, yet we are sending BILLIONS TO HAITI.

Many Seniors, who are faithfully voters, are scrounging to make ends meet, with the little money social security gives them, the Disabled, and War Veterans, are not doing any better.

It is okay to help other nations in distress, but I think this Government is going overboard. Let's remember that four years' from now!!!!!!!

CHARITY begins at home...........................

Last I heard, the government had promised a tenth-of-a-billion to Haiti. Which I thought was cheap. It comes to about 30 cents per person.

I live on Social Security, and I get all I need.

Most of the Seniors I know aren't scrimping on SSI. Most of them are living quite well actually. The few I do know that are having issues, are having to pay extraordinarily high hospital bills.

I don't think sending the small amount of resources that we are to Haiti is a terribly high expense. They have lost more than 200,000 people there, and most of the city and area are destroyed. I think it's just human nature to help people like that.

Not sure if you're a Christian or not, most Americans are, but What would Jesus do?

I don't agree its overboard at all. i get SS but this is a great disaster that can get even worse. Compared to the cost last year to give SS increases; so far haiti has been nothing really.Besdes SS is not a charity. Ther are people getting more from the governamnt hat are is a charity basciallyid they qaulkify for it.Irs also not based on being a faithful voter .

If you can't afford .30 cents, then you've got some real savings issues.

I don't get why sending aid to Haiti relates to seniors and social security. I certainly don't understand the viewpoint "this government", no matter what party would be in office, help would be sent for a disaster of this size.

Yes, no matter who was in office, we would still be sending money. Because that's what we do. Many private citizens and charities are also sending money, not just the government.

Yep, Haiti is the reason we are so in debt and there is a Social Security gap projected.

Just stuff the money we spend on our troops in foreign wars ($65 billion for just Afghanistan in 2010, Interactive: Each US Soldier in Afghanistan Costs $1 Million - Newsweek.com (http://www.newsweek.com/id/229336 - broken link)) under the carpet so people won't see it. Let the people of Haiti eat dirt.

Selective attention for the win.

And that comes from the guy that steals napkins from the fast food place to wipe his rear end!

HE said it NOT ME....I'm just quoting him!
