Chimpanzee: Pretty amazing canines for an animal that's as much as 99% vegetarian (and whose main non-veg food isn't meat, it's termites).

Ok people, nothing more to see here. MG cited a Chimp as the end all example that humans aren't meant to eat meat.

Debate solved, thread over.

With all due respect to the OP, this topic was never intended to appear in Great Debates, and should never have been placed in this forum under its offending title.

There is no question in serious observer's minds, aka scientists and medical professionals, that homo sapien was intended to consume meat - not strictly meat, but including meat. From teeth structure, to eye position to makeup of digestive system and fluids, the evidence is incontrovertable.

Go ahead and chew on your rubberbands all day long if you wish. Make yourself feel "superior" is that is important to you, but don't feel for a moment that you fooling anyone else. The rest of us aren't impressed that you fight your nature. You might as well assert that were were never intended to drink water, limiting our intake to fluids found in our food. It would be equally as silly.

Would you like some gravy on those rubberbands??

MahiAhiOno (three different kinds of meat)

Suppose just for a moment that Kathy Freston is right; humans are actually natural herbivores. Where is she going with this discovery? Does she plan to introduce legislation banning the consumption of meat based on scientific evidence? If she does and the law passes, how is it going to be enforced? The United States government couldn't enforce prohibition after it was enacted in 1919...can you imagine what would happen if they tried to keep people from eating meat? (Will McDonald's and Burger King then become outlaw corporations?)

It's an absolute forest of question marks. I can think of more questions, but I can't post them right now; I've got a steak in the oven!

Why does everyone keep ****ing saying "natural"? Like any of us even know what "natural" is for us.

We're still trying to figure just where in the hell we came from. If we can't figure that out, then I think the "what's natural" debate is clearly up for grabs.

But hey, what are these forums for other than for us forumers to pretend to know everything? =-)

Human DNA is remarkably similar to that of chimpanzees (like 99%). And chimpanzees are omnivores. But, chimps eat only 1 or 2% meat when they grab a baby gazelle by chance; meanwhile about 50% of a chimps diet is greens. Not general veggies like the food FDA pyramid shows, but real leafy greens.

This should guide us on how to eat. We need to find better ways to get spinach, collard, turnip, mustard greens, chard, etc. into our diets. And we need to limit our animal product intake (most definately dairy too). Our bodies are built to handle a little animal product but not much.

We've lost the balance big-time...

My guess is they were vegetarians before the Fall. The fall was a fall to a lower, carnal, state of consciousness. The carnal mind desires meat, alcohol, drugs, sugar, etc. The carnal mind is both greedy and fearful, and craves power and domination over others in order to feel secure.
