I live in a trailer park. We don't have an official neighborhood watch program but we do watch out for each other. I've called the police at least three times to report a crime. Several of my neighbors have called as well. I've stopped kids from vandalizing a neighbor's home. We did this often enough that crime in our area has dropped cause they know we're watching them. Most common call I make is for strange cars parked near the trailer park with all lights out but people sitting inside late at night. One case led to a drug dealing arrest and another led to the people in the car leaving, never to return again. Police think they were casing the place for people's homes and sheds to rob.

Why don't people take responsibility and do their best to raise their own children?
Why don't people take responsibility and choose abstinence or wisely used multiple birth control methods if they are unable to raise children?

Not trying to be uncharitable...
Why do the responsible individuals always have to pick up the slack for those who make worse choices?
Especially when some of them, even when offered a chance to improve their own lives prefer to do nothing?

Why don't people have any concern for the well-being of the innocent children of such parents?
Why don't people support social measures intended to help irresponsible people raise their children with minimum damage?

Why should people always have to be concerned with those who choose the wrong path instead of just shuttling them off somewhere where they can just damage each other?

Why don't people support population control and mandatory sterilization because they seem like more practical options at this point?

You can prevent things at a cost of privacy and freedom.... it may be dangerous or very costly to minimize risk at that degree....

Reminder to everyone that this:

Quote:
So instead of all the name calling, finger pointing and hostility, why don't you DO something and help?? Maybe then you will realize how severely individuals, more specifically children, can be impacted by the type of environment they've been placed in.
is the topic of the thread.

Off topic and/or rude posts will be deleted.

I always check out cars behaving like they are casing our condo. Lately they are just serving eviction notices from some bank.

BTW - there is no joy in shooting someone. The joy is in surviving the fight.

Why dont fat people who complain about their weight do something about it?

They lack motivation, willpower, the knowledge to do so, the means etc or complaining makes them feel better about themselves. Same as everyone else who complains about anything.

re this OP
yes we can move the responsibility for crime from the perpetrator to the victim but lets not.
instead lets bring back firing squads.
in bagdad they dont have a gangbang problem. and low prison population.
the part that puzzles me is that some posters readily admit they call the cops over minor crime, the same posters that cheer when the cops are shot (oakland cop murder posts on CDF)
