We've had a ban for the last 3 years. There is a noticeable reduction in the plastic bags floating around so that's great... but we still see a TON of plastic beverage bottles and food packaging on the streets, sidewalks and green belts.

People are careless and inconsiderate. No ban will fix that...

I had a bag that a grocery store who sold/offered for 69 cents that had there name on it. Minor cost as it served the needs. No way for me to hand carry back for another visit and maybe a fee charge hassle. Even being heavyduty material a seam tore open so i just used my sewing machine for a repair.

I *heard* that those bags, if you can not wash them, they become heavily laden with bad stuff ...

Our way of shopping groceries still today ...
From the cart onto the belt, back into cart (no plastic or paper bags), into the trunk of the car, then multiple trips from car to pantry with all the stuff in a clothes hamper ...
No need to get rid of paper or plastic or cardboard boxes !

We have one of those fold-up dollies (from before wheeled luggage) which we use to carry in stuff that is either on *flats* or in 20 pound or more bags ...

As I previously explained I have specific reusables for meat and dairy products that are regularly washed, and other reusables that are not.
The irony is that they have not banned the plastic produce bags, we may end up with 5-6 of those inside the reusable bag. In fact, I have seen people use them for the packaged fresh meat in case of leaks. That would, in most cases prevent the contamination. Studies on related illness in the few cities with bans for a while have been questionable, at best.
