End of semester paper due, much?
Turn the question around.
1. Pick your acronym. Many for each.
2. For what use? Residential cooking or steam turbine ironside ship.
3. Without atmosphere, Mars would be a poor choice for wind installations.
4. Transmission lines to Mars is not green. Chose off grid.

What happened to multiple choice or true or false?

As far as the CO2 issue goes burning wood is considered neutral but there is some caveats. You can harvest the amount of wood you need each year which releases CO2. New growth on your lot captures that CO2. As long as the lot is big enough that the new growth is equal to the amount of wood you harvest it's an infinite neutral cycle. That is sustainable as long as a small percentage of the population is doing it, we don't have enough forest on this planet to sustain that cycle for the worlds population.

As far as other emissions go, all things being equal such as efficiency of the unit and the wood you are using an indoor woodstove is always going to be better for the environment. With a OWB you have the additional step of moving that heat from the outdoor boiler into your home and that is typically done through underground pex making them less efficient because of heat loss.

In the real world the outdoor wood boiler has abysmal performance as far as efficiency goes. They don't utilize the fuel as efficiently and the typical user is not using seasoned wood driving the efficiency down even further.

1. Not really a good comparison, it depends on the application. From a green side neither is the greenest.

2. Are you talking about a Masonry heater? If so it depends on the wood boiler efficiency but a properly built and operated Masory heater is generally cleaner burning.

3. Depends on location, amount of sun and wind. Many locations do not have enough wind to efficiently operate a wind turbine, unless it is very tall . Most commercial generators top out at 300 to 360 feet tall.

4. If all things are equal a grid tied is greener because no storage is required.
