While several others and I would most certainly agree with your premise, sadly, a still vast (and possibly growing) swath of humanity exists for nothing more than the insatiable pursuit of material and monetary gain.

For several years now, my mantra has been: Learning to Live with Less. And truthfully, I am much the happier man for it.

In closing, a thought provoking excerpt from Khalil Gibran:

. . .Your thought instils in your heart arrogance and superiority. Mine plants within me love for peace and the desire for independence. Your thought begets dreams of palaces with furniture of sandalwood studded with jewels, and beds made of twisted silk threads. My thought speaks softly in my ears, “Be clean in body and spirit even if you have nowhere to lay your head.”

My vision of The American Dream is for everyone to wake up from the dreaming and begin living within our means.

The Zeitgeist Movement - The Transition - YouTube

I want to live in a type 1 world. I put this up for Dr. Kaku, not the Zeitgeist movement. I also think the Venus project is interesting.

This would be nice, I forgot to add it.
