It's a zero emissions vehicle. To some people that is important.

A wood gasification system could burn wood (maybe in pellet form) quite cleanly and efficiently. It wouldn't take a massive engine to keep the batteries topped off.

I've been looking into that for power generation too. Interesting idea for vehicle propulsion.

but its not really going to take off unless it makes sense cost-wise. is there any potential for a cost advantage?

There will be when gas goes to $20/gal.

If you don't have access to a school to learn basic science, or a public library, you may be able to find online resources to help. I suggest you start by looking up the basic concepts you're asking about on www.wikipedia.com. And for excellent free classes, register at https://www.khanacademy.org/

Good luck!
I made a claim why not have car run on water.

A poster said no chemical bond that you can tap for energy

I said Water has chemical bonds and what does chemical bonds have to do with it.

What are you saying that water has no energy? Than why does hydrogen have energy?

Than poster said Water is a compound of oxygen and hydrogen, and is quite stable. Hydrogen is an element, and it is very reactive and easily oxidized, which releases energy.

Than I said What is differnce if you burning element or molecule? What determine what is energy or not that you burning ?Why does some have energy and others not?

Than when you can't back up your claim you use straw man tactic.

im not sure when that will happen but even if that did happen the fuel cell would have to contend with other alternatives.

It's is base upon the energy level of of the electron shells. Water has a very low energy structure so it requires energy to change those bonds. If you take two hydrogen molecules and combine it with an oxygen molecule you get a release of energy, because the combined energy stored in the electron shell of the O & H is greater than of the water molecules. Understand now?

To simplify. How much heat do you get when you burn a rock?

No, not at all. Apparently you just don't have the education to understand the completely valid answers you were given. Cars can't run on water as fuel because the laws of physics and chemistry don't allow it. It isn't up to us to teach you the basic science you need to know to understand the answers.
