I love the idea and I think the tiny houses are so cool. After downsizing from a 2800 sf house to a 750 sf condo, I don't know if I could go any smaller. It's actually not bad for just me but I am renting temporarily. I am looking to buy in a few months and it's hard to find a house smaller than 2000. I don't think I would get the value out of buying a tiny condo even if I could find one. It would be hard to resell down the road and condo associations have TOO many rules. Not to mention they really don't exist in the neighborhoods I want to buy in. I think a 1500 sf townhouse is going to be the smallest I can find.

It would be great if there were smaller single family homes or townhouses available, but it appears not.

For all of you lauding this, how large is your home?

EXACTLY! Same people who think their saving the environment by driving around in a Smart Car deathtrap. They feel rather than working on being more efficient and wasting less, you should be confined to a cage, whether that be your car, house etc.

I'd rather not wear my home. I'll take a great big mega-home .

My cat needs more than 186 sq/ft just by itself. The tiny house is far less energy efficient because you end up using it elsewhere. You are probably more likely to jump in the car to get the heck out.

Not everyone needs a 5000 square feet house to be happy. You spend more time keeping it up then you do enjoying it.

My wife & I are looking at one but it's 560 Sq. ft. That's about as small as we can go with 2 dogs & two cats.

This is a good point. I am fine in the 750 sf condo, but I live in Florida. I can open the door and sit outside most days. It's never too cold to take a walk. If I lived in a colder place and was stuck inside in the winter I think I would get a little stir-crazy.

Also like I said it quite an adjustment to downsize this much. I don't think I can go any smaller. I do feel that there is less work keeping up the smaller place but on the other hand it takes nothing to look cluttered. You really have to have organization down to a science because storage space is so scarce. It's been a great experience, but I am honestly looking forward to having a little more space.

I would recommend at least 800 sq ft. I live in a 550 sq ft house, with one other person, and more then a few cats, it is really miserable due to the smallness. As of just a few minutes ago I just scrapped open my elbow.

Tiny houses are perfect for minimalists, Id much rather live in a townhouse though.
