In today's world being green means saving on energy costs to the consumer as well as saving on the energy needed to produce electricity. When you get a chance go to the Austin Energy web site and see just how much they/we spend on energy. That all being said I read on this new HVAC unit that does not require gas for the heat, Is a self contained unit that does need the compressor unit outside for the cool. It will save the consumer about 30 percent on their energy bills as well as the city on energy costs to produce electricity. The big box unit HVAC companies are not real keen on this product.

Electric force air is very ineffictent heating system compared to gas forced air.Electric Heat pumps are efficent as long as you live in a climate where it can keep up with out supplemental electric panels during cold weather below freezing. Some of the new heat pumps are expensive but very efficent. Even the entgery star electric systems have problems in cooling because often a too large cond coil is used which can lead to mold problems from what i have read.

Where did you read about this product? I cannot find it on the Austinenergy.com site, so I guess I am looking in the wrong areas.

The machines are being built in Oklahoma, nothing to do with Austin energy really. I was merely on their web site taking a look at how much their energy costs were for the year.
