Skimming out the plastics would destroy the ecosystem. Nearly every fish and invertebrate in the ocean starts out as a meroplankton. Skimming out all of that icthyoplankton could destroy the food web.

This issue really makes my stomach hurt. We have some of the smartest people in the world, but yet we have this problem. People would care more if it hurt their pockets.
