I'd do it for this reason alone, but my city requires the recyclables to be cleaned anyway.

Some cities have convenient curbside recycling. My city is way behind in progress, so I take my recycling in lawn bags to the Recycling Center once every 2 weeks. Kind of a fun activity, have been doing it for years. Have not yet lived in a city where it can just be put curbside to be picked up.
