ZEIST, Netherlands, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- The owners of a Zeist, Netherlands, cafe said it has become the first to use its revolving entrance door to generate electricity.

Nature cafe La Porte said patrons using the revolving door can look at a meter telling them how much electricity their entrance generated for the establishment, Expatica reported Thursday.

Best energy source idea to date - let's use people to generate electricity. Talk about coming full circle to Roman times. We could strap prisoners to giant wheels and they grind out electricity. Would sure help the violence in prisons situation - all would be too tired to fight.

From a value engineering standpoint, this sounds like a $1500 system that will save $1/month. I couldn't recommend such a system based on the ROI costs.

Folks wont want to shop at any store if they have to push really hard on the rotating door to get in.

I don't think this needs to cost $1500 but agree the ROI is probably non existent.
