Look for the 6400K ones if you like something that is more like daylight. Unfortunatly if you shoot film (I do, Still and 16mm motion picture) use a FLd filter even with the CFls your pictures will have a greenish tint. If you shoot negative film stock the processing lab can balance the prints to remove the greenish tint. Don't use 6400K CFLs if you want a tungsten look unless you are going to use color correction filters. 4800K or 5400K CFLs are better if you want something closer to the old incandesant bulbs. I haven't seem CFL with the color temprature of kerosene lamps. I have those in every room of my apartment as well.

Do these come as the top setting on a three way by chance? The only time I want it that bright is when I'm reading. Any other time I want less light.
